Phase 1 base (Feasibility Study) and Phase 2 option (Proof of Concept)

We are seeking submissions for a mathematics job position focused on the discovery of algorithms and architectures (DIAL). This role requires innovative research concepts in mathematical methods for computer-aided algorithm discovery through optimization. We are particularly interested in candidates who can build upon optimization methods that solve algorithm discovery problems, such as mixed integer nonlinear problems or reinforcement learning problems. In addition to technical approaches using optimization methods, applicants must also identify the targeted application of their algorithms and explain its relevance to the (DoD). They should also provide information on the current state-of-the-art algorithms and software for the specific application, the underlying structure of their algorithm, and the computational resources. Furthermore, it is essential to estimate the expected computational resources necessary for the efficient deployment of the discovered algorithm(s). While the listed algorithms are of interest, we are open to other proposals if a clear justification is provided regarding the algorithm(s) selected and their applications' relevance to the DoD.
